History

Streaming old time radio started back in 1999 when broadband internet was being introduced into more and more cities. The notion of being able to have my own “radio station” intrigued me very much! I opted to have an old time radio station because I had more of that material than I did any genre of music. So, I decided on the name “WOTR Indianapolis”. I felt that a radio station had call letters, mine would be WOTR (obvious for old time radio) and since I lived in Indianapolis at the time, the 2 joined together quite nicely. WOTR Indianapolis was born in 1999 Live365.com, streaming old time radio a couple hours a day, 7 days a week. That is, until more and more people began streaming old time radio but was doing it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I stopped streaming daily and began streaming seasonally throughout the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years holiday season. I did this for many years. It wasn’t until 2006 that I changed the name to Old Time Radio USA. The station was still gaining momentum with listeners welcoming me back each holiday season. By 2015, I had a loyal following that looked forward to the holiday season, as Old Time Radio USA became synonymous with their holiday season. When 2016 rolled around and the seasonal broadcast for 2015 had just came to an end for the season, I was left with something to think about. “Why not take this to the next level and go 365 days a year?” I asked myself. After careful consideration, on April 1st, 2016, Old Time Radio USA was now a full-fledged, all year ‘round station…. and continues to this day. Monday, February 1st at 6am ET, Suspense Radio 365 was launched. A brand new station dedicated to the original Suspense radio series that ran from 1942 to 1962. Later the station name was changed to Suspense Radio USA to coincide with the original station naming scheme of Old Time Radio USA. September 3rd at 6am ET introduced a brand new station known as Crime Time Radio USA. A dedicated station to all the favorite old time radio crime and detective dramas. Shortly there after, the WOTR Radio Network name was born. An identification, if you will, to acknowledge a 'network' of old time radio internet stations. WOTR was taken from the original station name from back in 1999 and incorporated into the new 'company' name. The WOTR Radio Network still maintains the network of 3 internet radio stations of old time radio stations to this day. Talks are always going on about adding a 4th station, but nothing serious has been discussed or decided.

What could be the reason there is no sound?

1. Make sure your speakers and the media player are not muted :) Not an uncommon problem ;)
2. Please try again in another browser, preferably Chrome, Firefox and when using a windows media player option Internet Explorer.
3. Try another stream type clicking: windows media player or external player as alternative
4. Be patient, some radiostations load within 10-20 seconds due to high traffic issues.
5. If you do not have any flash player we automatically load the second best player, so again be patient.
6. If the stream doesn't start automatically please click the play button or the mp3 option on the right, please retry 1,2 or 3 times. Most of the times this works.
7. If you are using a windows media player, this will mostly only work in Internet Explorer.
8. A radiostation might be temporarily unavailable due to several reasons. If your favorite station is not working right now, please try again in a few moments.
9. The media player isn't showing/working in your browser, check below what you can do about it
10. Try another computer or device (tablet, phone etc).
11. Some radiostations have limited rights for international broadcasting. Some stations only broadcast in their own country. For example BBC in the UK and lots of stations in the US. If you really want to listen use a proxy server from that specific country to solve this problem.

Why do I see a grey screen?

Stream keeps on buffering
In Windows Media Player you can improve this. Go to Extra, Options, and then tab performance to extend the netwerkbuffer to 15 seconds.
