540 WRGC The River

The WRGC Radio format is considered a variety mix. About 30% of the music is soft rock from the fifties through the eighties. The remaining 70 percent includes a mix of crossover country and adult contemporary but not the hot AC format. There are live “in studio” announcers from six a.m till six p.m. Tradio is the biggest draw for mid- day listeners between one and two p.m.. The station also places a special concentration on local news, and has affiliation agreements with NCNN News, NBC News, and CNBC Financial News. WRGC has programming agreements with the Atlanta Braves Radio Network, Into The Blue, The Crook and Chase Countdown, The Gospel Greats, and The Catamount Sports Network.

Five Forty Broadcasting Company LLC was formed in December 2011 by Roy Burnette and members of his family for the purpose of purchasing and operating WRGC Radio. Five Forty Broadcasting Company LLC applied for and received a ten year loan from the Jackson County Revolving Loan Fund which is used for companies planning to start up or expand employment opportunities primarily for single females and head of household. Burnette felt it would be necessary to complete a move from 1000 watts on the A.M. Frequency of 680 to the frequency of 540 A.M at 5000 watts in order for the station to increase the coverage and revenue potential. The former owners had successfully received a construction permit from the FCC for the station to operate at the 540 frequency and at 5000 watts but had not acted upon the authorization. WRGC underwent a complete makeover in preparation for opening in April 2012. This included a new Harris 5000 watt transmitter, a Kintronics Laboratories Antenna Tuning Unit, a NexGen Automation System, an upgraded broadcast control room console, and several additional technical upgrades including a switch to a cable provider for telephone services and internet services in order to have the upload speeds for future expansion of services. WRGC Radio began test operations on April 2, 2012. The FCC approved the license transfer to Five Forty Broadcasting Company LLC on June 7th 2012.

What could be the reason there is no sound?

1. Make sure your speakers and the media player are not muted :) Not an uncommon problem ;)
2. Please try again in another browser, preferably Chrome, Firefox and when using a windows media player option Internet Explorer.
3. Try another stream type clicking: windows media player or external player as alternative
4. Be patient, some radiostations load within 10-20 seconds due to high traffic issues.
5. If you do not have any flash player we automatically load the second best player, so again be patient.
6. If the stream doesn't start automatically please click the play button or the mp3 option on the right, please retry 1,2 or 3 times. Most of the times this works.
7. If you are using a windows media player, this will mostly only work in Internet Explorer.
8. A radiostation might be temporarily unavailable due to several reasons. If your favorite station is not working right now, please try again in a few moments.
9. The media player isn't showing/working in your browser, check below what you can do about it
10. Try another computer or device (tablet, phone etc).
11. Some radiostations have limited rights for international broadcasting. Some stations only broadcast in their own country. For example BBC in the UK and lots of stations in the US. If you really want to listen use a proxy server from that specific country to solve this problem.

Stream keeps on buffering
In Windows Media Player you can improve this. Go to Extra, Options, and then tab performance to extend the netwerkbuffer to 15 seconds.
